Multi-storey building

4th semester

Limfjord udsigt

Limfjord Udsigt (Sight over the Limfjord) is designed with limited palette of colours where white is strongly dominant.
By eliminating all non-essential forms and cleansing the outlook of the building, emphasise is put to the delightful Limfjord view.

Basic geometric shapes are used as outlines; a single square shape is implemented into the overall layout of the building, creating design unity.
The clarified outline produces simple but prestigious architecture by colour brightness balance, flat surfaces and roof pleasing negative spaces. The building’s design is with limited ornamentation and elimination of curved elements.

Two different premises, vast office area and cozy coffee shop, form the commercial area situated on the ground floor of the building.

Apartments occupy the second and third floor of the building, having the same layout. Each floor consists of three apartments (one or two bedrooms), with area varying between 76 and 94 m2 .

On the last floor a luxory penthouse with spacious terraces gives a majestic finishing touch to the visually atractive residential project.

Construction details

When designing a building with both commercial and residential purpose, it is very essential to make a careful material choice. Main highlights where the comfort acoustic level required, the fire safety of the components and the maximum heat persistence possible. Regarding time savings quick assembly solutions and innovative ideas were embraced.

Video task

Introducing the client with the design and ideas the design team came up with can often be a delicate and complex task. During the semester, one of the assignments was to prepare an attractive video, which will present the main features of the project in an easy to understand yet appealing manner.
Clarity and simplicity are the main concept of the video, leaving the visualisations to speak for themselves.

Reports and analysis

Making conceptual reports aiming to present the project to the client was a part of this semester. The aim was to learn how to introduce the building with short but essential information accompanied by sketches of the future construction. On the other hand very precise and specific data containing drawings were required in order to apply for building permission.
Along with the semester project, we had to write an elective report based on a problem in the architectural or construction field. My choice of topic was closely related to my personal interests concerning organic architecture.
